Turkish gecko (Hemidactylus turcicus)

Description

The Turkish gecko is slightly flattened with bumpy tubercles on its skin. During its light phase, it has a pale, translucent and pinkish/whitish colour. In its dark phase, it is grey to dark brown with dark blotches that sometimes form indistinct bands. Dark and light rings are observable around its tail. It can grow to about 15 cm.

Habitat

It can be found in scrubland, saltmarshes, rocky outcrops and coastal areas.

Diet

Its diet consists of small invertebrates.

Protection status

This species is listed as “Least Concern” by IUCN Red List.
